About
A little about my story
I am still becoming.
My journey into social work and mental health was not a straight line. There were seasons of my life when I felt uncertain about who I was, where I was going, and who I wanted to become. I made choices that did not always reflect the person I wanted to be, experienced moments that challenged me, and had to learn how to find my way forward.
I eventually returned to school with a different perspective and a greater sense of purpose. What began as one path ultimately led me toward something that felt more meaningful: understanding people, supporting their growth, and creating spaces where people feel safe enough to be honest about what they are experiencing.
That journey is a large part of why I believe in becoming. I do not believe we have to have everything figured out before we can begin growing. I am still learning, evolving, and becoming too.
My hope is that My Curly Haired Therapist reminds people that you can be proud of who you are while still becoming who you want to be.
Outside of the work
Outside of my professional life, I love exploring the things that make me feel most like myself.
I love traveling, experiencing different cultures, spending time at the beach, hiking, baking, crafting, and being outdoors. Boxing has also become an important part of my life. What started as something new has become a reminder of my own strength, confidence, and resilience. There is something empowering about discovering a strength within yourself that you did not know was there.
I believe these experiences are part of what makes us whole. The things we enjoy, the communities we build, the challenges we overcome, and the ways we care for ourselves all contribute to who we are becoming.
